BAM Infrastructure is currently delivering a redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site in Plymouth, and we are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor.

Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks are required – BPSS level clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered.

Your mission

As Health & Safety Advisor, your responsibilities include:

• Supporting H&S Managers in promoting and implementing policies and procedures aligned with KBJV standards.
• Leading the development and implementation of project H&S objectives, campaigns, and initiatives.
• Producing monthly and annual H&S performance reports.
• Creating and publishing high-standard H&S documentation.
• Collaborating with operational teams to fulfill H&S roles and responsibilities.
• Assisting in developing Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
• Supporting the review and development of SSoW, permits, and plans for project delivery.
• Conducting regular health and safety inspections and audits as per targets.
• Ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and closure of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Assisting in the development of health and safety documents.
• Advising on and identifying training needs.
• Planning and supporting D&A testing, including 'Random' and 'For Cause' testing.
• Supporting induction, training, and briefing of project staff.

Who are we looking for?

• NEBOSH Certificate (preferably Construction) or equivalent.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., Tech IOSH or above).
• Experience working in construction and heavy civil environments, including CDM designers.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
• Qualification in Accident Investigation (e.g., Kelvin TOPSET, ROSPA, or NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation).
