Environmental Advisor - Major Infrastructure Project

Are you an experienced Environmental Advisor looking for your next opportunity within a major infrastructure project?

We are currently looking for an Environmental Advisor to join a project team working on the onshore substation element of the Berwick Bank development, near Edinburgh/East Lothian.

This is a major infrastructure project involving significant civil engineering, groundworks and cabling activities, offering the opportunity to work in a challenging and high-profile construction environment while developing your experience on a major project.

The Opportunity

As Environmental Advisor, you will play an important role in supporting the project team to ensure environmental standards, legislation and project requirements are consistently met.

Working closely with site management, contractors, clients and other project stakeholders, you will provide practical environmental advice across the project and help drive a strong environmental culture on site.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional who enjoys being hands‑on and wants to build their experience within major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing day-to-day environmental advice and support to site teams.


• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of the project's Environmental Management Plan.


• Carrying out environmental inspections, audits and site monitoring.


• Identifying environmental risks and supporting appropriate mitigation measures.


• Monitoring compliance with environmental legislation, permits and project requirements.


• Supporting the management of waste, water, pollution prevention and environmental controls.


• Assisting with environmental reporting, records and performance monitoring.


• Supporting investigations into environmental incidents and implementing corrective actions.


• Working closely with subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure environmental standards are maintained.


• Delivering environmental briefings, toolbox talks and awareness sessions where required.


• Liaising with clients, regulators and other stakeholders on environmental matters.


• Promoting continuous improvement and positive environmental behaviours across the project.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an Environmental Advisor with experience within a construction, civil engineering or infrastructure environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience working in an environmental role within construction or civil engineering.


• Experience across civils, groundworks and/or cabling projects.


• A good understanding of environmental legislation and construction-related environmental requirements.


• Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring.


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with site teams, subcontractors and clients.


• A practical and proactive approach to identifying and managing environmental risks.


• Relevant environmental qualification or professional membership.


• A full UK driving licence.
