Job summary

Lanes Group in Camberley is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to lead risk assessments, develop safe procedures and oversee training across our nationwide network.

You will work 37.5 hours per week with flexible hours, weekends and on-call duties. We offer a competitive salary up to £35,000, 24 days holiday, a health cash plan, pension, a company car or car allowance and a supportive, inclusive working environment.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH qualification and IOSH membership preferred but not essential.
  • Comply with health and safety standards.
  • Know Lanes Group policies and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out risk assessments and identify how risks could be reduced.
  • Outline safe operating procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
  • Deliver induction training for new starters.
  • Record findings from inspections to produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • Record incidents and accidents to produce statistics for managers.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain knowledge of HSE developments.
  • Attend IOSH seminars and read professional journals.
  • Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
  • Ensure equipment is installed safely.
  • Manage and organise safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise.

Health and Safety Advisor

We operate 24/7 and as such you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on-call rota. Full training / PPE / use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes' high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.

Salary: up to £35,000 per annum, depending upon experience.

About The Role

  • Attend Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and read professional journals.
  • Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
  • Ensure equipment is installed safely.
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos.
  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
  • Any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by H&S Manager, Head of Health and Safety or a member of Senior Leadership Team.
