Job description

AA Euro Group is currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our clients' team working across Birmingham and the West Midlands. The role primarily involves projects in water, infrastructure, and civil engineering. The position will be supported by the Site Management Team and the Group HSQE Team.

Job Specification / Role Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as a point of contact for HSQE-related inquiries.
  2. Promote the profile of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE) on site and within projects.
  3. Foster a positive HSQE culture.
  4. Conduct detailed HSQE site inspections as directed by the HSQE Manager.
  5. Communicate and ensure closure of findings from internal and external HSQE inspections and audits within specified timescales.
  6. Assess how sites and operatives work and behave concerning HSQE practices.
  7. Provide hands-on coaching on HSQE best practices to everyone on site.
  8. Advise operatives and managers on health, safety, quality, environmental legislation, and client requirements.
  9. Promote the use of process improvement and near miss reporting systems and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  10. Integrate HSQE considerations into daily processes to foster a safety culture.
  11. Investigate accidents and incidents to identify causes and improvement opportunities.
  12. Assist in lessons learned meetings and develop HSQE alerts.
  13. Support the development and delivery of Toolbox Talks for operatives and managers.
  14. Participate in site tours with managers and safety professionals to promote good practices and address concerns.
  15. Attend HSQE and client HSQE meetings and conference calls.
  16. Complete online HSQE reports for each site visited, documenting good practices, corrective actions, and areas needing attention, supported by photographs.
  17. Contribute to the development of HSQE strategies and management systems.
  18. Assist in maintaining ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 certifications and ongoing compliance.
Requirements:
  1. At least 5 years of experience working on civil, mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation contracts in construction or related industries.
  2. Basic knowledge of ISO standards.
  3. Relevant safety cards (EUSR SHEA and Hygiene cards).
  4. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate or equivalent Level 3 qualification.
  5. CITB SMSTS certification.
  6. CSCS card.
