Contract Length: 10 Weeks (Part Time – 25 hours per week – Flexible across days/evenings)

Location: Northampton and the Towcester/Daventry hubs, field-based

IR35: Inside

Pay Rate to Intermediary: Up to £50 per hour

Spinwell is recruiting for a Health Protection Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

Responsibilities of the Health Protection Officer
  • Carry out statutory food safety inspections at local businesses in accordance with current law, procedures, policy, and guidance; within agreed timescales, occasionally outside normal working hours.
  • Use problem-solving skills to make decisions and take appropriate action to ensure business compliance with relevant laws.
  • Manage personal workload effectively and maintain accurate, comprehensive records of activities, ensuring they are retrievable.
Skills and Experience of the Health Protection Officer
  • Understanding of the Food Law Code of Practice Competency Framework, demonstrating ability to carry out relevant Official Controls such as Inspection, Audit, Sampling, Monitoring, Surveillance, and Verification.
  • Experience delivering a range of Food Safety Official Controls detailed in the Food Law Code of Practice within the last 3 years.
  • Experience delivering a range of Health & Safety National/Local Priority interventions as detailed in LAC 67/2 within the last 3 years.
  • Post-qualification specialization in food safety and/or health & safety enforcement.
  • Experience working in local government.
