To provide operational management to support the health needs of students in partnership with the Executive Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team at Claremont and Kingsweston Schools Federation.
To establish good joint working relationships with key agencies in order to develop a coordinated approach to the provision of effective access to education, early learning, health, and family support services.
An outstanding opportunity has arisen to take up the post of Health Lead on a permanent contract at Claremont and Kingsweston Schools Federation, starting ASAP.
This post is 35 hours per week, term time only, with days to be confirmed. Working across the federation. Salary approximately £37,820, term time only.
We are looking for a registered nurse or allied health professional with experience working with children who have complex health needs and learning difficulties in a community setting.
Now is a very exciting time to join our Federation. We are two SEND schools, federated in February 2023, with lots of development anticipated across both schools in the near future. This role offers an opportunity to work with the Senior Leadership teams, develop the role of Health Lead, and collaborate with Governors in the Federation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development relevant to their qualifications and a willingness to tailor work patterns to meet the needs of our students. This includes the ability to work across both schools and demonstrate an empathetic approach with a positive attitude.

Claremont School is in North Bristol and caters for children and young people with physical disabilities, additional and/or associated learning needs, sensory impairments, health needs, and autism, aged 2 to 19 years. The school is located across two sites: Henleaze campus (including Henleaze Infant and Junior Schools) and Redland (including Redland Green School).
Kingsweston School is also in North Bristol and caters for children and young people with autism and various additional and/or associated learning needs and sensory impairments, aged 4-19 years. The school spans three sites: Napier Miles, Shirehampton (including Shirehampton Primary School), and Brightstowe (including Oasis Brightstowe Academy).

As Health Lead for Claremont and Kingsweston Schools Federation, working with the Executive Headteacher and Senior Leadership Teams, as well as other health professionals linked to the students and schools.
Provide leadership in health situations for students in the Federation.
Coordinate with health agencies to ensure that Health Care plans, written by external agencies, are in place and up to date for students.
Support leadership by being part of the Designated Safeguarding team, dealing with CPOMs referrals and day-to-day Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead duties.
Manage Health Care Assistants working within Claremont School.
Support Health Care workers (working with students with tracheostomies) in collaboration with multi-agencies to ensure training from external agencies is current.
Establish effective networks across the multidisciplinary team to ensure successful communication and working relationships, whilst maintaining confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
Support, coordinate, and facilitate induction programmes for staff related to students' health needs, involving Specialist Community Nursing Services and other health services as needed.
Familiarize with current school policies and procedures, participate in developing new policies, and ensure compliance with national policies, guidelines, and legislation (e.g., medication administration/storage legislation and Supporting Children in School Medical Conditions).
Participate in the recruitment and selection process for health-related staff, as appropriate.
Coordinate in-service health training with external agencies to support staff in meeting students' health needs.
Make referrals to services such as continence and dental services.
Liaise with Assistant Head Teachers responsible for attendance and class teachers regarding health issues that affect students' access to education, ensuring attendance agreements are in place and reviewed.
Coordinate medication administration in schools, working with support staff to ensure procedures are followed and adhered to.
