Job summary

University of Exeter is offering a Graduate Business Partnership placement in the South West Secure Data Environment. The Research Project Coordinator will support the Research Manager with coordinating enquiries and projects from initial contact through governance reviews, working with NHS partners, universities and SWSDE teams.

This full‑time, 36.5‑hour week role is hybrid, combining remote work with campus activity, starting December 2026 and finishing November 2027. Salary: £28,029 per annum.

Qualifications

  • A degree, or expected degree award before commencing the placement, in any subject.
  • Graduated from a UK university in the last 3 years.
  • Evidence of strong academic achievement and the ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
  • Desirable: degree in health sciences, social sciences, public health, business management, project management, data science or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an accessible first point of contact for routine research project enquiries, providing standard information and referring complex or specialist questions to the Research Manager or relevant SWSDE colleagues.
  • Support the initial triage of project enquiries by recording information on the research question, data requirements, partners, funding, timescales and anticipated outputs.
  • Coordinate project activity from initial enquiry through to submission to the SWSDE Data Access Committee, maintaining action logs, project plans and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain the research project pipeline and CRM records, ensuring information on project status, requirements, actions and decisions is accurate.
  • Arrange project meetings, prepare agendas and papers, take notes and follow up actions with project leads and colleagues.
  • Work with teams to coordinate project assessments and communicate requirements or next steps to researchers.
  • Support the preparation, formatting, proofreading and quality checking of project documentation and governance papers.
  • Assist with the organisation and promotion of regional research networks and events.
  • Support relationships with NHS organisations, universities and public-sector partners.
  • Provide admin support for budget monitoring, invoices and funding records as required.
  • Contribute to improvements in research processes and templates.
