In Kirklees, we want to be innovative and creative in the way we work to deliver our services with communities. Investing in relationships with those communities is at the core of what we do. We want to meet changing and challenging times with better and smarter ways to work.

Due to the service expanding and receiving additional funding to support the Wellness Service growing from strength to strength, we are delighted to offer this opportunity to recruit additional Health Coaches to join the existing Health Coaching Team within the Wellness Service.

Available Roles:

1 x Temporary Maternity Cover post

The Health Coach is about being part of a flexible team, working across a partnership of Primary Care and the Council. As a Health Coach within Wellness, you will have a caseload of clients who you work with, using coaching tools and techniques, to improve their health and wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with a range of partners and build effective relationships across those partnerships to improve health outcomes for individuals and communities.

Wellness is defined as a proactive, preventive approach that emphasises the whole person and which works to achieve optimum levels of physical, mental, social, and emotional health. This role is part of a team responsible for developing an integrated Health Improvement approach for adults; to help people build their capacity to maintain good health and be independent.

We want to bring together organisations, people, and services to develop a shared approach, using a ‘strengths-based’ mind-set that acknowledges, builds upon, and unlocks the strengths, skills, and capacities of people to live healthy lives utilising the assets within the local community. We want to build on the existing strengths and assets of people and communities and will support individuals to find solutions to things which determine their health and prevent health conditions from developing or worsening.

Whilst a recognised qualification in Health Coaching in addition to being a Level 2 Smoking Cessation Practitioner is desirable, it is not essential as full training will be provided.

This role requires a degree of flexibility, may include evening/weekend work, and the ability to travel between Kirklees wide venues/locations on a daily basis.

Our employees are at the very heart of the services we provide to the community. To help us achieve our ambitions, we want the best possible team. In return, we will make sure you are rewarded with a great range of staff benefits to support you in and out of work.

Laura Kenny is the manager for this role. Please contact them on 01484 221000 for an informal discussion, or if you need any more information.

This job is subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
