Position Details

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday, with hours flexible to meet service requirements. Please note that the salary is pro-rata for part-time hours. The Discharge Lounge operates from 0800 to 2000 hours, Monday to Friday, including public holidays.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Discharge Team at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, working across several Discharge Lounges. This is a board-wide position focused on providing a safe, comfortable waiting area for medically stable patients awaiting discharge or transfer. The service optimizes bed utilization without compromising patient care. Patients are cared for by Registered Nurses and Healthcare Support Workers, with all necessary nursing care provided during their stay.

Responsibilities of the Healthcare Support Worker

• Assist in delivering effective nursing care for patients, maintaining acceptable standards while awaiting discharge or transfer within the Discharge Lounge.
• Provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, following divisional policies and procedures.
• Manage resources effectively, including supplies and equipment.
