Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the surgical directorate at Glan Clwyd Hospital for a permanent full time Band 2 Healthcare Assistants.

Experience in an Acute Hospital setting would be an advantage, but training will be given.

Post - Full time.

The position involves working within the Urology Day Unit; this supports patients under going urological diagnostic procedures and clinic appointments.

Applicants must have an approachable manner necessary to deal with patients and their relatives and desirable experience of a hospital environment. Applicants will work as part of a team of nurses on the unit and undertake patient care tasks under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered General Nurse responsible for the patient's management.

Main duties of the job

Assist the registered nurse/practitioner to deliver a high standard of holistic patient care, ensuring that the patients` dignity and equality is maintained at all times.

Ensure the principles set out in the fundamentals of care are incorporated into daily practice to ensure high quality service for patients and clients. To perform duties within the plan of care delegated by a qualified practitioner, only for which he/she has the relevant training and assessment.

Prepare clinical area for receiving patients by ensuring area is generally clean and tidy - assist in maintaining the standards in the clinical area and report any untidiness/clutter to the appropriate person.Assist in the admission of new patients into the department by preparing trolley area, welcoming patient, directing to trolley/ other area, showing patient around the ward.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
