Job summary

LV Care Group is seeking Health Care Assistants to join Summerhill View on the Isle of Man. You will provide high-quality care to Service Users, support independence, and follow care plans. Roles include day and night shifts, with both full-time and part-time possibilities under fixed-term contracts.

Responsibilities include promoting welfare, maintaining dignity, and adhering to Infection Prevention and Control standards, with opportunities for audits and professional development.

Qualifications

• No formal qualification required but relevant health and social care qualifications are desirable.
• Care-related certifications may be required for medication-related tasks.
• Strong communication and observation skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• To work as part of a care team and provide high-quality care to Service Users.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of Service Users.
• Support Service Users to maintain independence per Care Plans.
• Review progress and report deterioration in health.
• Follow infection prevention and control policies.
• Participate in audits and supervision as required.
• Respect dignity and privacy of Service Users.
• Liaise with other agencies as needed.
• Encourage positive social interaction.
• Carry out personal care tasks as trained and in line with Care Plans.

Description

Summerhill View are looking for Health Care Assistants to join the team and be responsible for providing high-quality care to Service Users, in-line with the highest regulatory standards.

We have Full-Time and Part-Time positions available for both day shifts and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities;-

• To work as part of a care team, providing high-quality care to Service Users.
• Promoting and Safeguarding the welfare of Service Users.
• To support the Service Users and to ensure personal care tasks are carried out to enhance and support the independence of the Service User, in-line with the Care Plan(s).
• Reviewing progress of care with the Service User and reporting any signs of deterioration in physical and mental health appropriately.
• Follow policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of Infection Prevention and Control.
• Measuring effectiveness of Service User's Care Plan(s) with interdisciplinary team; providing care improvement recommendations when required.
• To carry out tasks in a way that will demonstrate respect for dignity and privacy of Service Users.
• To liaise with other agencies involved with Service Users when required.
• To respect the rights and choices of Service Users.
• Participate in audits, as requested and required.
• Act in accordance with all legal requirements; fostering treatment practices and standards of care that comply to the values of the Home, whilst observing governing regulations.
• To encourage positive social interaction with Service Users.
• Attend and participate in supervision and appraisal meetings where required.
• Comply with all respective company policies and procedures.

Personal Care Responsibilities;-

• Assisting Service Users to mobilise in accordance with best Moving and Handling practices and Care Plan(s).
• Assisting Service Users to maintain a good dietary intake of food and drinks, in accordance with training and Care Plan(s).
• Undertake roles in relation to medication administration (this is role specific and must be carried out at the discretion of management and in-line with training, local standards and company policy).
• Encourage Service Users to be as independent as possible with their personal care requirements.

Domestic Responsibilities;-

• To undertake domestic tasks relevant to the role, at the discretion of management and in-line with documented Care Plans.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications;-

• No formal qualification required, but RQF Level 2 in Health and Social Care is desirable, or a willingness to undertake this qualification at the earliest possible convenience. For Health Care Assistants without RQF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), the Care Certificate will need to be completed.
• Level 3 RQF Medication Unit is required for Health Care Assistants looking to undertake tasks involving medication administration.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organisational skills.
• Observational skills.
• Able to follow instructions and procedures.
• Able to work in a team, but also use own initiative.
