Overview

We are pleased to offer opportunities for experienced Healthcare Support Workers to join our expanding teams on Mental Health Services for Older People wards within the Directorate of Mental Health.

The Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) wards based at the Bennion Centre, Glenfield Hospital site, support patients who are over 65 with mental ill health not originating from a physical cause. Patients typically have diagnoses such as schizophrenia, mood disorders or anxiety. We are recruiting caring and compassionate healthcare support workers who can assist patients with activities of daily living as well as mental health recovery.

The role of the Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) is to work as part of the nursing team and support people through their recovery with both physical health and mental health needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in a healthcare setting, excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering high-quality care.

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the nursing team to support patients with activities of daily living and mental health recovery.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high standards of care and patient safety on the ward.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Participate in a rota system including Long Days (12-hour shifts) Day and Night covering a 7-day week.

  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Ability to demonstrate Trust, Respect, Integrity and Compassion in patient care.
  • Part-time or full-time posts available; minimum of 23 hours per week.
  • Permanent roles (not bank roles); candidates must have the right to work in the UK and sponsorship is not offered.
