Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for experienced Health Care Assistants to join our team within the Mental Health Service for Older People (MHSOP) on Gwendolen Ward. The role is to work as part of the nursing team and support people through their recovery with both their physical health and their mental health needs.

Based on the Leicester General Hospital site, the Evington Centre has 2 mental health wards: Gwendolen Ward (Male Patients) and Coleman Ward (Female Patients). Gwendolen Ward is a 19-bedded organic acute ward for males aged 65 and above, also catering to younger patients who may have cognitive impairment. We work to support individuals with complex mental health conditions and physical co-morbidities, offering opportunities for nurses to provide invaluable care to vulnerable people, while providing you with a sense of fulfilment. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop new skills within a nurturing team where you can make a real difference to people’s lives.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within a healthcare setting, excellent communication skills and a passion for providing great care to patients.

Please note that the Healthcare Assistants work a rota system of Long Days (12 hr shifts) Day and Night covering a 7-day working week. We can offer Part time and Full time posts, however the minimum you will be required to work is 23 hours per week. These are also permanent roles not bank roles and candidates will require their own right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer sponsorship.
