Job description
Overview

We have a great opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our children's team in CDC nursing. You will work with friendly and experienced staff committed to delivering a high standard of care to babies, children, young people (BCYP) and their families in Barking & Dagenham. This role involves supporting children attending the Child & Family Centre and being the first point of contact for their appointments.

Responsibilities
  • Greet children and families on arrival at the Child & Family Centre and provide essential information and support.
  • Assist across medical teams to support babies, children, young people and families during appointments.
  • Take and record baseline measurements as appropriate (weight, height, head circumference, blood pressure).
  • Gain training and support to complete ECG recordings as needed.
  • Support children with special educational needs and disabilities, learning about different provisions within Children's services, and highlight safeguarding concerns from both service and safeguarding perspectives.
  • Ensure clinics run timely and advise parents and children of any delays as directed by clinicians.
  • Maintain clinical rooms in accordance with Trust infection control policies and ensure supplies are stocked.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and seek advice if safeguarding concerns arise.
  • Contribute to a positive induction process and participate in ongoing learning and development.
Qualifications and Skills
  • We are looking for someone who is caring and compassionate, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and who can adapt to the needs of BCYP with additional needs attending the centre.
  • Willingness to learn and develop in a supportive environment; training is provided where required (e.g., ECG recordings).
Training and Induction

New starters join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undergo a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory and systems training and equipment allocation. The induction includes opportunities to meet the executive team, senior managers and attend drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. Induction will be held at the Trust head office in Rainham, Essex.

Other Employment Details
  • Probationary period applies to this post (internal applicants may be exempt depending on current probation status).
  • High Cost Area Supplement – London: 15% of basic salary (minimum £4,551; maximum £5,735 per annum pro rata).
  • Applications from local residents may be prioritized; visa sponsorship is not available for this post.
