Job description

To support thepractice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical andadministrative services, working as part of the practice multi-disciplinaryteam, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patientpopulation.

The Healthcare Assistantwill deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment,preventative care, health promotion and patient education whilst alsosupporting the administrative team on an as-required basis.

Main duties of the job

ECGrecording

Processingand management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

Sterilising,cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring andrecording

Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking andstock rotation

Clearingand re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments andequipment before, during and after patient care interventions, includingassisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Assistingin the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Undertakingspecific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated andtaught specifically in relation to that individual

Helping to raise awareness of health andwell-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation ofdata on needs related to health and well-being

Participate in practice audit as directed by the auditlead

Participate in local initiatives to enhance servicedelivery and patient care

Support and participate in shared learning within theorganisation

Complete opening and closing procedures in accordancewith the duty rota
