Job summary

Woodbank Surgery is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to support its clinical team in a GP practice serving around 7,300 patients. The role focuses on hands-on tasks such as venepuncture, NHS health checks for new patients and recording vital signs, with ECGs where trained.

You will work in a patient-facing environment, assist with infection prevention, monitor patients with long-term conditions, and provide lifestyle advice.

Qualifications

• Experience in Primary Care is essential.
• Hands-on clinical duties including venepuncture and health checks.
• Record clinical observations accurately and promptly.
• Adherence to infection prevention policies.
• Patient-facing role within a GP practice.

Responsibilities

• Undertake NHS Health Checks and new patient health checks.
• Perform venepuncture and specimen collection.
• Record clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, height, weight and BMI.
• Carry out ECGs where trained and competent.
• Support monitoring and review of patients with long-term conditions.
• Provide lifestyle and health promotion advice.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records and ensure all clinical activity is correctly recorded and coded.
• Assist clinicians with patient assessments and treatments when required.
• Chaperone patients in line with practice policy.
• Ensure clinical equipment is clean, maintained and ready for use.
• Manage stock levels and clinical supplies.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
