Job summary

Outwood Grange Academies Trust, at Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth in Tees Valley, is seeking a Health Care Assistant to provide personal care for students with complex needs. The role covers hygiene, mobility, meals and medicines under individual care plans.

It is a term-time, 20-hour-per-week post running Monday to Friday, with use of hoists and support for gastrostomy tube feeding as required. Experience in care settings is essential.

Qualifications

• First aid qualification or willingness to obtain one within 12 months of starting.
• Experience working in a care environment.
• Ability to cope with the personal and physical needs of children and young adults.

Responsibilities

• Meet the personal care needs of identified students, following academy policy on hygiene, lifting and medicine administration.
• Use specialist equipment such as hoists and beds safely.
• Support students with meal times, including gastrostomy feeding where required.
• Dispense medicines precisely according to academy policy and individual care plans.
• Assist students with mobility, including for appointments and hydrotherapy sessions.
• Report any changes or causes for concern immediately to the line manager.

This Health Care Assistant post sits at Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth, a school run by Outwood Grange Academies Trust.
