Qualifications

Job description

The Role

NHS Lanarkshire has various Part & Full time opportunities available for Healthcare Assistants, based at Stonehouse Hospital.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, Healthcare Assistants will carry out routine personal care and assist with examination duties for patients, under the supervision of a registered nurse or clinician. The role ensures a person-centred approach to care delivery, maintaining safety and quality standards.

The Healthcare Assistant will perform duties to uphold hygiene, order, and safety within the ward or department environment. Please note: duties may vary depending on the ward/department and patient dependency levels.

  • Knowledge of personal care procedures or previous experience in health, education, or social environments.
  • Willingness to undertake on-the-job training and induction.
  • Completion of mandatory HCSW standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with people and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Basic knowledge of information technology.

It would be advantageous if you also have

  • SVQ II in healthcare or are working towards it.
  • Basic understanding of infection control.

Contract type

Permanent, with full-time and part-time positions available. Salary for part-time roles will be pro-rata.

Location

This role is based in the Lockhart Unit at Stonehouse Hospital. Applicants considered for interview may be considered for similar roles in other locations.
