Job summary

South Milford Surgery is seeking a motivated Health Care Assistant to join our nursing team. Duties include home visits, stock management, and routine patient care. The role supports GPs and nurses across our sites in Micklefield and Thorpe Willoughby.

Essential qualifications include a healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) and a driving licence. Experience in primary care with phlebotomy, ECG recording, vaccines, wound care and diabetic foot checks is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Health Care Assistant or Nursing Associate in primary care.
• Competent in phlebotomy, ECG recording, vaccine administration, wound care and diabetic foot checks.
• Ability to carry out home visits.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits for patients unable to attend the surgery for their annual review.
• Manage and maintain clinical stock and equipment.
• Take patient observations: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight.
• Record ECGs.
• Administer vaccinations & injections under a PSD.
• Conduct diabetic foot checks.
• Wound care.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and admin staff.
• Follow infection control and confidentiality procedures.

• Qualifications Essential/Desirable:
• - Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level
• - Previous completion of the HCA Care Certificate (as per GP Mythbuster No 57 - HCAs in General Practice
• Qualified in: Phlebotomy, wound care, ECGs & vaccinations.
