Job description

We are looking to recruit a friendly and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our patient focused, caring and friendly GP Practice. The HCA will deliver treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education and support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services. They will also help the surgery achieve QoF targets.

Experience working within a General Practice environment is desirable and phlebotomy skills are essential, salary is negotiable depending on experience. A friendly personality, competent clinical skills, together with an interest in further training and personal development is vital. The ability to work autonomously within a busy team environment is essential.

Main duties of the job

Role/Job Summary:

Conduct audit and patient screening in pursuance of the objectives of the Quality & Outcomes Framework (QOF).

To provide treatment room services to patients of the practice, within the training and professional competence of the post holder.

Support the Doctors and Nursing/HCA teams in providing an effective level of care to the practice patient population.

Undertake tasks and duties as delegated by the practice nurse leader or suitably qualified regulated professional.

Ensure own actions are professional and consistent with practice policy/protocols.

Rosebank Health Is a large well-established training practice of 40000 patients. We operate from spacious, purpose-built premises on four sites in the Gloucester area. We have a wide clinical team including GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Paramedics, HCAs, Phlebotomists, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers and a Physiotherapist, who are all well-supported by a large team of committed administrative staff.

Purpose: To assist the GPs and Practice Nurse Team inthe service and delivery of the care management of the Practice population

Job Summary: To assist inpatient care and practice related duties as directed by and under thesupervision of a registered healthcare professional. To have a knowledge of chronic disease managementand provide support in the delivery of QoF.

To assist with the ordering process across all 4 practice sites.

KeyResponsibilities

Clinical skills health and well-being

  • Undertake, record and follow guidelines for the tasks for which you have received appropriate training
  • Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory
  • Measuring and recording following physiological measurements in routine presentations:
  • blood pressure
  • pulse rate and rhythm
  • O2 sats
  • peak flow
  • temperature
  • height and weight body mass index
  • application of basis non-adherent dressing
  • new patient health checks
  • Venepuncture
  • ECG
  • Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
  • Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted
  • Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence
  • Support and monitor patients during nebulisation therapy
  • Assist GP with minor operations/coil fit/implant insertion
