A healthcare provider in Aldershot is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join their team. The role involves assisting with patient care, delivering phlebotomy services, and supporting the nursing team. Ideal candidates should be proactive, organized, and capable of working both in a team and independently. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our team. The role requires someone who is clinically experienced, proactive, organized, and able to take initiative. Working in a smaller team means your role will be highly valued and varied; you will have the opportunity to make a real impact, help shape the future of our nursing team, and contribute meaningfully to patient care and service development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting but is equally confident working autonomously, managing priorities, and supporting others in a leadership capacity.
This role involves delivering phlebotomy and HCA core provisions, supporting the nursing team and the practice, and working with EMIS and general practice operations.
Main duties & responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Health Care Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Minor operations
From time to time doctors carry out minor operations for patients (e.g., contraception implants, removing ingrown toenails, coil fittings). You will be required to assist GPs in Minor Ops: getting instruments ready and laid out on trolley, organizing dressings from stock, and clearing away used instruments.
Phlebotomy
To assist in providing phlebotomy services for the practice, as required. You will be responsible for running your own Phlebotomy Clinic in accordance with practice needs. This includes checking request forms, patient identification, equipment, drawing blood, and labeling bottles. You will take blood samples for patients requiring regular tests (e.g., for Diabetes, Hypertension, CHD, and certain medications) and perform measurements such as INR, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, ECG, and injections under PSD guidance. NHS Health Checks and New Patient Health Checks may also be part of duties.
Assisting the nursing team, GPs, and other clinicians as requested.
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners and Managers. Confidentiality, Health & Safety, Equality and Diversity, Personal/Professional Development, Quality, Communication, and Contribution to the Implementation of Services policies are integral to the role and daily practice.
We are a small but growing practice with a strong ethos of teamwork and a supportive, family-like environment. Although smaller than some practices, we are busy, dynamic, and deeply committed to our patients and each other. Aldershot is a vibrant community with diverse backgrounds and healthcare needs, making our work challenging and rewarding as we strive to provide high-quality, compassionate care.
