We are currently recruiting a Health and Wellbeing Practitioner to work within a team at HMP Brixton.
Here at Forward Trust, we deliver a range of drug and alcohol services in the prison environment, including advice, health and wellbeing support, motivational work, clinical services, and various group work and treatment programmes.
Our services within prisons are commissioned by NHS England and delivered in partnership with healthcare providers and HMPPS, emphasizing integration and collaboration.
We believe everyone can live a fulfilling life, regardless of their past. Our prison work aims to support those affected by substance issues to create lasting change and reduce dependency, homelessness, unemployment, and reoffending.
Working within an integrated healthcare framework, you will support drug and alcohol users aged 18 and over (dependent on service). The services deliver psychosocial substance misuse interventions and accredited treatment programmes for offenders with alcohol or drug problems.
You will provide client-centered treatment using harm reduction and abstinence-based approaches, managing caseloads, offering harm reduction advice, assessments, care planning, and delivering structured 1:1 and group sessions, including treatment programmes relevant to your unit.
Collaboration with services like housing, employment, healthcare, probation, and external drug intervention teams is essential for preparing clients for release.
You will contribute to organizational targets and work towards outcome measurement, requiring cooperative relationships with partner agencies. You may also need to perform second signatory and oral swab testing.
Flexibility is necessary, including potential evening/weekend shifts and travel to other projects for continuous client care.
All prison-based roles require an enhanced DBS and HMPPS security vetting, which can take up to 8-12 weeks. Offers are subject to clearance.
Checks include personal, family, co-resident, conflict of interest, police, credit, and social media screenings.
