Job description

Job Title: Health and Wellbeing Nurse – Substance Misuse Service
Location:West Yorkshire
Contract Length: 3–6 Months
Working Pattern: 4 days per week – Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
Includes one late evening shift per week (day to be agreed with manager)

Pay Rates:
  • £26.00 per hour (Umbrella)
  • £23.43 per hour (PAYE including holiday pay)
  • £20.90 per hour (PAYE excluding holiday pay)

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Health and Wellbeing Nurse to join a dynamic Substance Misuse Service. This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals affected by drug and alcohol use, playing a vital role in their health journey and recovery.
You will work within a multidisciplinary team, providing holistic nursing care and health interventions to service users in a community-based setting.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct health assessments for new and existing clients
  • Administer and monitor opiate substitution therapy and other prescribed medications
  • Provide BBV (Blood Borne Virus) screening, vaccinations, and referrals
  • Deliver harm reduction advice, including safer injecting practices and overdose prevention
  • Offer physical health checks, wound care, and general health promotion
  • Support clients with managing long-term health conditions
  • Liaise with GPs, mental health services, and other external partners
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
  • Contribute to care planning and multidisciplinary reviews
  • Participate in audits and service improvement activities
Requirements:
  • NMC Registered Nurse (RMN or RGN considered)
  • Previous experience in substance misuse, addictions, or related health field
  • Confident in delivering health interventions and managing complex needs
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent communication and clinical documentation skills
