Job description

Two posts are available

NHS Fife affirms the importance of Spiritual Care, recognizing it as a core aspect of person-centred care. The Department of Spiritual Care has developed innovative models for delivering spiritual care. Healthcare Chaplains work in busy, challenging environments, managing multiple priorities, both planned and unexpected.

Role Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Healthcare Chaplain, based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, working across multiple sites within Fife. The role involves working across various specialisms, responding to operational needs, or as directed by the Head of Spiritual Care. Candidates should have a good understanding of the spiritual needs of different belief communities and those with no faith.

Candidate Requirements
  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to reflect on practice.
  2. Ability to provide staff support; must be an accredited VBRP facilitator or committed to obtaining this accreditation.
  3. Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  4. Working towards or possessing a Post-Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Chaplaincy.
  5. Experience delivering Spiritual Care in health and social care settings, with knowledge of recent developments in NHS Scotland.
  6. Good IT skills and a valid driving license.
  7. Registration with the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplains is required.
  8. Successful candidates must pass an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check.
  9. Participation in an on-call/out-of-hours rota (currently 1:5, under review).
