Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Technical Officer to join their Emergency and Safety Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a health and safety or technical support environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to to provide technical support to qualified health and safety practitioners, assisting in the delivery of the Council’s Health and Safety policy across all departments. This includes maintaining accurate records, supporting projects and campaigns, arranging training and meetings, and producing statistical reports on incidents and health and safety performance.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Supporting qualified H&S officers with advice, record-keeping, and day-to-day admin tasks.
• Coordinating accident, incident, and near-miss reports, and producing performance data.
• Maintaining accessible guidance and advice resources for Council staff.
• Organising and supporting training sessions, promotional campaigns, and stakeholder events.
• Minute-taking and action-tracking for meetings.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• Experience of record keeping and managing records.
• Experience of supporting projects, meetings, or events.
• Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Ability to produce and present information in a clear and engaging way.
• Experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Confidence prioritising workload and meeting deadlines in a busy environment.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £17 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £13 per hour PAYE).
