Job description

Interim Health & Safety Officer - Stafford (with travel across Staffordshire & Shropshire) - £37,510.60 + Essential Car User Allowance - Hours: 37 per week | Fixed-term for 4 months

Our client, a respected housing and care provider in the West Midlands, is seeking a highly capable Health & Safety Officer to support their operations on a full-time, temporary basis. This is a key role for a professional who can bring immediate impact to high-risk environments and champion a culture of safety and compliance.

The Opportunity:

You'll be instrumental in delivering expert guidance, driving safety improvements across multiple departments, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. This is a hands-on role with variety — ideal for someone comfortable with site-based responsibilities, training delivery, and risk leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide health and safety expertise across the organisation

  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments

  • Lead incident investigations and liaise with external regulators

  • Deliver internal training on health and fire safety practices

  • Produce reports and insights for senior management

  • Support the development of safe systems of work and risk documentation

  • Candidate Profile:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Fire or Construction Certificate desirable)

  • TechIOSH membership essential

  • Proven experience in housing, care, construction or similarly high-risk sectors

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Competent in using MS Office and health & safety software portals

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

  • Confident attending live construction sites when required

What’s on Offer:

  • Competitive salary + car allowance

  • Comprehensive induction and training opportunities

  • 25 days’ holiday (rising with service), bank holidays and additional Christmas leave

  • Access to employee wellbeing resources, pension, and benefits schemes

This is a brilliant opportunity to join an organisation making a meaningful difference in the community — and to use your skills to enhance safety and wellbeing across complex service areas.
