Overview

Health & Safety Officer

  • Annual Salary: £45,000pa
  • Location: Kent
  • Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (24 months)
  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

REED HR have partnered with a fantastic company in Kent who are seeking a motivated, dynamic, and proactive Health & Safety Officer with experience in engineering, operational IT, or construction settings. This role is central to ensuring that all health, safety, and compliance documentation and controls are effectively managed across their operations.

Day-to-day of the role:

Responsibilities
  • Develop and review team health and safety documentation.
  • Enhance existing processes and procedures to manage and control identified risks effectively.
  • Attend works at remote sites to engage with team members and develop relevant documentation and practices.
  • Develop and deliver induction materials and site briefings.
  • Lead on the implementation and embedding of changes resulting from new documentation or procedures.
  • Identify and source appropriate training to ensure the team’s skills are up-to-date.
  • Manage contractors to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Liaise with other departments to manage risks consistently across the organisation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an engineering, operational IT, or construction setting.
  • Holds a Health & Safety qualification (similar or equivalent to CITB’s SMSTS).
  • Knowledge of relevant H&S regulations such as Working at Height, LOLER, and PUWER.
  • High standard of education, with a minimum of A Level standard or equivalent in IT, science, or engineering related topics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop effective working relationships.
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise and progress work with minimal supervision.
  • Must hold UK driving licence for manual vehicles.
