An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Officer at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the Risk, Health and Safety Team, you will play a crucial role in achieving Trust targets and enhancing our reputation for excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and practices within an NHS hospital setting. While the position is based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, frequent travel between Trust sites is essential.
Candidates must hold a NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety. Additionally, experience as a safety professional within a hospital environment is required. The successful candidate should demonstrate experience working within an organisation of comparable size and complexity.
The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for interpreting relevant legislation and guidance to develop and implement Trust-wide policies and procedures on behalf of the Trust Board and Executive Directors. They will ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and standards through programmes of risk assessment and auditing. Furthermore, they will provide expert advice at both strategic and operational levels to ensure professional and reliable health and safety performance monitoring.
As part of a small team, you will be responsible for the efficient operation, planning, and development and support of supporting health and safety services across the Trust. These functions must be carried out to nationally agreed and recognised standards for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff.
Reporting to the Head of Risk and Assurance, the successful applicant will have extensive knowledge and experience in health and safety matters. You must be highly motivated, organised, and capable of delivering expert advice.
