Job description

We have an exciting opportunity within our Health and Safety Team for a Health and Safety Officer. The successful candidate will be required to maintain a high standard of health and safety compliance across the college, provide proactive and reactive support for incidents, and ensure a safe environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Essential
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in health and safety management within an educational or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Ability to deliver training and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Competent in DSE assessments and ergonomic advice.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and health and safety management systems.
Desirable
  • Experience with fire risk assessments and emergency planning.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Knowledge of health surveillance processes in workshop environments.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or higher-level qualification.

This role will be fixed term for 9 months maternity cover. As a college employee you will be entitled to the following benefits:
