Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Health and Safety Manager for a busy Thatcham site. This permanent role offers a salary of £60,000 to £65,000 and a 20% product discount.

You will join the site leadership team, developing a proactive safety culture and coaching operational managers to embed lasting improvements on the shop floor. You will be visibly present on the floor, build strong relationships, challenge practices where needed and lead investigations to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Certificate (minimum)
• Solid HSE experience in a fast-paced logistics, warehouse, retail or manufacturing setting
• Confidence to present to and influence senior stakeholders
• Strong communication skills and a practical, down-to-earth style
• A track record of leading investigations, driving improvements and developing others

Job description

The Health and Safety Manager - Thatcham

This permanent position offers a salary of £60,000 to £65,000 plus a 20% product discount. The successful candidate will join the site leadership team, taking responsibility for developing a proactive safety culture and coaching operational managers to embed lasting improvements.

This role demands a visible presence on the shop floor, building strong relationships and challenging existing practices where necessary. Applicants will need proven leadership experience in a similar logistics or industrial setting, alongside the communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.

My client is a well-established 3PL operator with a large, busy Thatcham site covering warehousing, transport, vehicle maintenance and in-house engineering. It's an environment where you'll be seen, heard and expected to lead - not just advise. You'll sit within the site leadership team and own the HSE agenda end to end. That means driving a more proactive safety culture, coaching operational managers and making sure improvements actually stick on the ground. This isn't a desk-based compliance role. You'll be out on the shop floor, building relationships, challenging where needed and helping people at every level take real ownership of safety. There's also scope to get involved in group-wide peer reviews, giving you exposure beyond the site.
