Job Description

The role of Health and Safety Manager will involve:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures across the organisation.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and audits to ensure compliance with legislation and internal standards.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to all departments.
  • Line management of an HSE Advisor.
  • Acting as the competent Fire safety manager for the organisation.
  • Compiling and presenting reports to management.
  • Delivering training programmes to ensure all staff understand and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Investigating accidents and incidents, reporting findings and recommending preventative measures.
  • Collaborating with external agencies and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Maintaining accurate records of health and safety performance and compliance.
  • Supporting the facilities management team in maintaining a safe and effective working environment.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Health and Safety Manager should have:

  • A recognised qualification in health and safety, such as a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in managing, delivering and advising on health and safety.
  • Fire Safety qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • The ability to draught and roll-out H&S policies and training.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience with project work.
  • The willingness to travel to various organisation sites as required.
  • Previous experience working in the Civil Service or Public Sector and Government (desirable).
