Your new Role

National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join our team in Safety, Engineering & Standards (SES) on a permanent basis. The Health and Safety Manager will support the management of the National Highways Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System and contribute to continual improvement. The role involves managing and creating content for the system to ensure legal compliance and relevance to National Highways as an employer, network operator, and client.

This role can be based from any UK office, but travel to Bedfordshire for meetings will be required.

Note: A full driving license with no more than 3 points is required, as driving is part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure consistency and quality of the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Management System content, aligning with policies and procedures.
• Ensure the system is usable and well-utilized by all stakeholders.
• Provide technical advice on the system's content.
• Manage communications regarding updates to the system.
• Align the system with key risks and business needs.
• Manage stakeholder expectations regarding the system.

Qualifications and Experience

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health and safety qualification.
• Knowledge of UK H&S legislation, HSG 65, ISO45001.
• Experience in creating and revising management systems.
• Auditing experience (desirable).
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
