Job Description:

We are seeking a NEBOSH qualified Health and Safety Manager with over 5 years of experience within FMCG, working alongside the senior team at our bakery in Wigston, Leicestershire.

Key Tasks include:

  • Ensuring the site’s compliance with all aspects of the Company H&S Policy and procedures in the UK and group requirements, providing advice, guidance, support, coaching, and training to the team.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring the Health & Safety policy.
  • Supporting the environmental plan and Environment Manager.
  • Promoting Health & Safety awareness and completing all Health & Safety functions.
  • Ensuring risk assessments, SSOW, Lotto, RAMS, and contractor controls are in place and reviewed regularly.
  • Preparing Health & Safety performance reports (KPIs) and driving improvements.
  • Initiating action plans following incidents, accidents, near misses, or legislative changes.
  • Recording and investigating accidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Leading the site’s H&S Committee and managing safety observation programs and audits.
  • Providing clear H&S communication and leading initiatives to improve standards and employee engagement.
  • Ensuring statutory compliance with HR and training departments.
  • Supporting project initiatives with regulatory compliance and reporting for budgeting.
  • Managing site safety/security systems, liaising with enforcement agencies, and overseeing fire safety systems.
  • Participating in crisis management teams and managing First Aid provisions.
  • Monitoring insurance inspections, statutory dust and noise levels, and liaising with regulatory bodies.
  • Contributing to the Group H&S Committee and participating in cross-audit processes, with travel required within the UK and internationally.
