This is a fast–growing company operating in UK & Ireland and Europe, with exciting growth and expansion plans. The main offices are in Tewkesbury and Wokingham with most of the workforce being mobile or remote.
The Health & Safety Manager will lead and oversee all health and safety initiatives across ABEC s operations. The job holder will ensure compliance with local regulations, foster a strong safety culture, and manage safety compliance across our sites. This role involves regular travel to inspect and support sites across the UK and EU.
Duties and responsibilities in this position are:
1.
Review and maintain H&S policies, procedures, and systems in compliance with UK and EU regulations.
2.
Conduct regular audits and inspections of project sites to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
3. Provide on–site support and guidance during project execution phases.
4.
Ensure all necessary certifications, permits, and documentation are maintained and up to date.
5.
Monitor and manage risk assessments, safe systems of work, and method statements.
6. Provide internal H&S training, toolbox talks and safety briefs and coordinate external training (where necessary) for employees, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of safety practices.
7. Appoint, vet and manage any external consultants as and when needed.
8. Promote a proactive safety culture through effective communication and engagement at all levels. Lead H&S communications and initiatives.
9. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
10. Maintain detailed records of incidents and produce timely reports.
11. Work closely with site teams, clients, and contractors to uphold consistent health and safety standards across all locations.
12. Act as the main point of contact for health and safety matters, both internally and externally.
13.
Other ad–hoc duties as and when required to support the Compliance function at ABEC.
