The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for managing Health, Safety and Environment Management systems and activities across production and warehouse facilities. The H&S Manager will lead safety across the site, identifying hazards, reducing risks, and preventing accidents.

Tasks & responsibilities: (Not limited to)

  • Advise all levels of the site, providing technical support and motivating stakeholders to follow proper administration of health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Implement ALPLA programs, apply relevant technical guidance, and control physical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, and ergonomic hazards and potential risks from operations.
  • Arrange Health & Safety training for all plant employees and communicate via toolbox talks.
  • Promote a positive HSE culture among all employee groups, engaging stakeholders when appropriate.
  • Facilitate a risk assessment program for continuous review.
  • Present incidents, near misses, and injuries data during management meetings and take corrective actions.
  • Arrange external risk assessments and surveys.
  • Ensure management undertakes change management and impact assessments prior to variations affecting health, safety, and environment.
  • Participate in the management review process.
  • Arrange internal audits and report against the ISO45001 standard.
  • Chair health and safety committee meetings.
  • Perform other site team responsibilities and projects as they arise.

What makes you great

Education / Experience:

  • Substantial health and safety management experience within an FMCG organization (ideally packaging).
  • Experience in a multi-site role with exposure to various production machinery and ancillary equipment.
  • Experience managing external parties and third-party contractors.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety standards within ISO14001 and 45001 frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze rules and guidance to assess business impact.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and analyze organizational needs and provide pragmatic solutions.
  • Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate people.
