Job Description:

We are looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join our Wakefield processing Centre team to effectively co-ordinate and manage the environment, health and safety function across the distribution site and promote health and safety best practice. They will help create and maintain a safety aware culture throughout the PC by devising and delivering safety programmes and effective health initiatives as well as manage, improve and inform about the waste management concept and actions on site, driving environmental and cost-effective best-practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of site SHE plan and ensure compliance of the company health and safety policy
  • To attend and advise the health and safety committee and such other committee as may be appropriate
  • Implementation and management of incident controller file
  • Keep up to date with legislation, regulations, best practise in relation to current and future health and safety issues with a view to identifying any necessary actions
  • Make timely recommendations and plans following any external investigations or audits
  • Lead the identification and manage the delivery of site/team health and safety training programmes
  • Implement and manage the delivery of health and safety induction programmes
  • Provide first line health and safety advise / guidance to line managers
  • Ensure a proactive and planned approach to accident prevention, safe working practices and health promotion.
  • Lead the maintenance and review of accident / incident reporting procedures
  • Implement and communicate action plans for improvement / prevention
  • Manage correspondence with relevant statutory bodies ensuring that full compliance is followed in the reporting and investigating of RIDDOR related accidents.
  • Manage first aid facilities and ensure first class provision of facilities and support to the business.
  • Review current risk assessments and implement action plans where required to ensure full compliance and understanding
  • Manage waste management concept and drive best-practice
  • Keep up to date with legislation and regulations to waste management issues with a view to identifying any necessary actions
  • Build effective working relationship between the TJX site and the local authorities such Environmental Health Office and Health & Safety Executive.
  • artner with operation to reduce sickness and absence by proactively using occupational health and interpreting reasonable adjustments
