Job Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and cultivate a culture of safety across all business units. This individual will collaborate closely with executive leadership and field teams to ensure compliance, prevent incidents, and promote a safe and healthy work environment. The Health & Safety Manager will design, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs while managing all related claims and compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the company.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and deliver employee safety training, including OSHA-mandated programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments at job sites and facilities.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and near misses; identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
  • Track, compile, and report accident and injury data monthly to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and local regulations; provide corrective recommendations as needed.
  • Lead behavior-based safety initiatives and drive employee engagement in safety programs.
  • Serve as the administrator for ISNetworld, incident tracking systems, and MSDS/HAZCOM compliance.
  • Oversee the management of workers' compensation, general liability, and auto claims.
  • Support CDL compliance, qualifications, and safety training for commercial drivers.
  • Participate in client pre-bid meetings and prepare site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP).
  • Administer the company's Drug & Alcohol testing program.
  • Assist with onboarding new hires from a safety and compliance perspective.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification and/or CUSP (Certified Utility Safety Professional). A STSC (Safety Trained Supervisor Construction) certification is a plus.
  • 7–10 years of professional experience in safety, environmental health, and OSHA compliance.
  • Prior safety leadership experience in the utility or telecommunications industry is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' compensation laws, and return-to-duty protocols.
  • Proven ability to investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement preventive actions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with behavior-based safety programs and field safety oversight.
  • Familiarity with ISNetworld and other compliance systems.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English fluently and clearly to ensure safe communication on the job site.
  • A pre-employment, on-site certification will be required. The applicant must successfully show that they can complete the duties as described within this document to the satisfaction of the construction supervision.
  • Successful candidates will be required to maintain a current valid driver's license with a clean MVR is required.
  • Successful candidates will be subject to complete and maintain a successful pre-employment drug and alcohol test, random testing and MVR check will be completed after date of hire.


Physical & Functional Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist, crawl and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Must possess manual dexterity in hands, fingers, and arms to effectively operate power tools, controls, and specialized equipment.
  • Must meet specific vision requirements, including:
    • Close vision
    • Color vision
    • Peripheral vision
    • Depth perception
    • Ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, or work from aerial lifts.
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle safely and responsibly as part of daily job duties.
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to navigate job sites, including moving between varying terrain and locations within the work environment.
