Job summary

Euro Auctions is seeking a proactive Health & Safety Manager to lead H&S across our sites. You will champion a proactive safety culture, develop policies and training, and drive continuous improvement in risk management and incident investigations.

You will report to the General Manager, work across sites in the Tyrone region, and ensure compliance with UK legislation. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
• 5+ years’ experience in Health & Safety with previous management or significant responsibility.
• Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and investigations.
• Experience across multiple sites in plant, machinery, vehicles, construction or agriculture.
• Strong communication and influencing skills; ability to work with senior management.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Embed a proactive Health & Safety culture across all sites, yards, offices and operational areas.
• Provide professional Health & Safety advice and lead the Organisation’s H&S strategy, policies and objectives.
• Manage and improve the Safety Management System, controlling risks from operations, plant and yard activities.
• Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation, advising senior management of changes and risks.
• Lead H&S inspections, audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews; ensure actions are completed.
• Lead investigations into accidents and near misses; implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement in H&S performance and KPIs.
• Provide leadership to managers and employees; identify and maintain training.
• Develop and maintain H&S policies, procedures and risk assessments.
• Report H&S performance and risks to senior management and external bodies.

Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Reporting To: General Manager

Location: Dromore, Co. Tyrone

Euro Auctions conducts unreserved auctions of industrial plant, construction equipment and agricultural machinery on a global basis with sites in the UK, Europe, UAE, Australia, US and Canada. We are the market leader in Europe, holding more sales and selling more lots per sale than any other auction house.

Key Activities:

• Embed a proactive Health & Safety culture across all sites, yards, offices and operational areas.

• Provide professional Health & Safety advice and lead the Organisation’s H&S strategy, policies and objectives.

• Manage and continually improve the Safety Management System, ensuring risks associated with auction operations, heavy plant, machinery, vehicle movements and yard activities are effectively controlled.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation, regulations and industry best practice, advising senior management of changes and emerging risks.

• Lead H&S inspections, audits, risk assessments and compliance reviews, ensuring actions are identified and completed.

• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventative actions.

• Drive continuous improvement in H&S performance, monitoring KPIs and leading initiatives to improve standards and reduce risk.

• Provide leadership and guidance to managers and employees, ensuring appropriate H&S and operational training is identified and maintained.

• Develop and maintain H&S policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements and related documentation.

• Report H&S performance, risks and compliance to senior management and the Strategy Group, managing relationships with external consultants, insurers, training providers and regulatory bodies

About the role

The Person:

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused Health & Safety professional who genuinely cares about safety. You’ll have strong communication and leadership skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to take ownership of H&S standards while driving continuous improvement across the Organisation.

The Requirements

Essential Criteria:

• NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.

• 5+ years’ experience in a Health & Safety role, with previous management or significant responsibility for H&S.

• Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.

• Proven experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations.

• Experience working across multiple sites and with operational/industrial environments, ideally involving plant, machinery, vehicles, construction, agriculture or similar.

• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to work with senior management, site managers and operational teams

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites
