Health and Safety Manager

Job Description

Health and Safety Manager London | £60,000 + Travel allowance & benefits. Irwin & Colton have been engaged by a well-known civil engineering contractor to recruit a Health and Safety Manager. The organisation is well established in their industry and predominantly provides both specialist construction and civil engineering services to a range of clients, including some of the UK's largest principal contractors.

Health and safety has always been at the top of the agenda and this role is critical to ensure the continued success of the function. The company is going from strength to strength and this position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to grow and develop their career.

Responsibilities

1. Working with the health and safety team and senior management, ensuring the health and safety management system is managed successfully throughout the business.
2. Co-ordinate and communicate health and safety activity across the business.
3. Visiting sites, auditing health and safety performance and acting as the key point of contact on health and safety.
4. Accurately reporting on health and safety performance and communicating this across the organisation.
5. Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
6. Complete SHEQ incident investigations focusing on root cause analysis.

Qualifications

The successful Health and Safety Manager will have:

1. Experience in health and safety within the construction industry.
2. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification and a membership of IOSH.
3. Excellent communication skills with proven experience engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
4. A keen eye for detail with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
