Job Introduction

At Sodexo Health and Care, we believe that Quality of Life begins with safety. As our Health & Safety Manager based onsite at Hereford County Hospital, you'll play a key role in protecting the wellbeing of patients, visitors, and frontline staff by embedding best-in-class safety practices and championing a Zero Harm culture across our site in Hereford.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the implementation of our Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Strategy at the site level.
  • Lead risk management activities, ensuring operational risks are identified, escalated, and controlled.
  • Embed and promote the Sodexo Zero Harm culture through safety leadership and colleague engagement.
  • Oversee incident reporting, investigation, and trend analysis using safety systems.
  • Coordinate food safety, environmental, and health & safety audits and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Advise and influence senior operational teams on legal compliance and best practice standards.
  • Support and monitor contractor safety, site compliance, and statutory responsibilities.
  • Deliver technical and behavioural safety training across teams.
  • Maintain and develop ISO-certified management systems (45001, 14001, 9001).
  • Produce detailed safety reports, metrics, and client presentations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, operational teams, and stakeholders.

What You Bring:

Essential

  • NEBOSH Fire
  • Food Safety Level 3
  • NEBOSH National Diploma Level 6 or equivalent in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Chartered Member of IOSH.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems including ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, and ISO22000.
  • Detailed knowledge and working experience of all relevant health, safety & environmental legislation.
  • Ability to effectively cooperate and deal with a wide range of internal and external relationships.
  • Commitment to HSE management with a strong motivation for knowledge and personal development.

Desirable

  • Food Safety Level 4
  • Experience of producing high-quality reports and presentations.
  • Use of techniques such as risk assessments, audits, and investigations.
  • Excellent communicator, including factual report writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and pragmatic processes.
  • Approachable, good listener, diplomatic, assertive.
  • Experience in FM safety management.
  • Ability to prioritize and work to deadlines.
  • Experience presenting at client review forums.
  • Full UK driving license.
