This is a vital role for someone who understands the unique challenges of maintaining safety excellence in a highly regulated, high output environment.

Why This Role?

This is more than a compliance role – it is an opportunity to lead meaningful change. You will have the autonomy to shape health and safety strategy, influence site wide culture, and work closely with senior leadership to align best practices across operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of robust Health & Safety policies in line with legal and corporate requirements

  • Drive compliance across Health & Safety, Food Safety, GMP and hygiene standards

  • Lead proactive initiatives to improve Health & Safety performance and KPIs across the site

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure systems such as SSOW, LOTTO and RAMS are current and effective

  • Investigate all incidents thoroughly, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures

  • Chair monthly Health & Safety meetings and lead the site's H&S Committee

  • Provide clear, confident Health & Safety guidance and training to all levels of staff

  • Partner with the Environmental Manager to support the site's sustainability and environmental targets

  • Oversee safety observation programmes and ensure comprehensive reporting and data analysis

  • Act as the primary liaison with key regulatory bodies, including the HSE and emergency services

  • Manage first aid, fire systems and crisis response procedures

  • Contribute to internal audit processes, including UK and occasional international travel

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in a Health & Safety leadership role within food or FMCG manufacturing

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate (Diploma desirable)

  • A proven ability to engage and influence cross functional teams within a complex, fast moving business

  • Strong analytical skills with a data driven, continuous improvement approach

  • A self starter with the confidence to drive cultural change and embed a proactive safety mindset

Desirable:

  • Experience managing site systems such as CCTV, access control and fire safety

  • Knowledge of crisis management, food defence and regulatory compliance relating to insurance

  • A track record in delivering Health & Safety training across varied operational teams

What's on Offer?

  • A competitive salary of 50,000 per annum

  • BUPA healthcare and an excellent benefits package

  • The opportunity to take a leading role in health, safety and environmental excellence within a respected food manufacturing organisation

  • A collaborative and forward thinking working environment where your expertise will be valued and your impact will be visible
