Group Health & Safety Manager

Location: Doncaster
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional ready to take the lead on safety strategy across a multi-site engineering and manufacturing business?

We're looking for a proactive Group Health & Safety Manager to drive standards, strengthen safety culture and ensure best practice across a range of operational environments.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of health and safety at group level, working with senior stakeholders, operational teams and external partners to make a meaningful difference to workplace safety and compliance.

If you're passionate about continuous improvement, confident influencing people at all levels and committed to creating safer working environments, this could be the next step in your career.

The Role

You'll lead the development and implementation of the group's Health & Safety strategy, ensuring consistent standards, effective management systems and compliance with relevant legislation across multiple sites.

Working closely with colleagues at all levels, you'll promote a positive safety-first culture, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure health and safety remains central to everyday operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the group-wide Health & Safety strategy, driving continuous improvement in performance and standards.

  • Review, maintain and improve health and safety management systems, policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, regulations and industry guidance.

  • Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and other external stakeholders.

  • Lead health and safety meetings, sharing best practice, lessons learned and opportunities for improvement.

  • Manage and develop a team of Health & Safety professionals, ensuring resources are used effectively.

  • Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, ensuring findings are addressed and corrective actions implemented.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on safe systems of work, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and legislative requirements.

  • Carry out site and factory inspections, identifying risks and ensuring appropriate standards are maintained.

  • Promote a proactive, positive safety culture throughout the business.

  • Oversee the maintenance and continual improvement of ISO 45001 certification.

About You

You'll be an established Health & Safety professional with the confidence to influence decision-making, engage with operational teams and lead improvements across a multi-site environment.

You'll combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach and a genuine commitment to keeping people safe.

You'll ideally bring:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in General or Construction Health & Safety.

  • Chartered IOSH membership, or working towards chartered status.

  • At least three years' experience in a Health & Safety management role at a similar level.

  • Experience within construction, manufacturing, engineering or another relevant industrial environment.

  • Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, recognised standards and management systems.

  • Experience with ISO 45001 and maintaining effective H&S management systems.

  • Knowledge of CDM regulations, working at height and wider construction safety requirements.

  • Experience leading, supporting or developing a Health & Safety team.

  • Strong communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.

  • Confident IT skills and the ability to produce, review and maintain accurate documentation.

Above all, you'll have a safety-first mindset, take pride in doing things properly and be confident challenging existing practices where improvements are needed.

What's on Offer?

Alongside the opportunity to shape health and safety standards across a multi-site organisation, the package includes:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.

  • Company pension scheme.

  • Sick pay scheme.

  • Health plan.

  • Cycle to Work scheme.

  • Share Save scheme.

  • Option to purchase additional annual leave.
