Job summary

Health & Safety Manager role based in Cheltenham, permanent, offering up to £75,000 plus bonus and benefits. Reporting to the Site Director, the post leads the site’s safety strategy across engineering, operations and facilities to ensure a compliant and safe workplace.

You will drive policies, conduct audits and risk assessments, deliver training, and manage contractor safety while supporting occupational health activities and KPI reporting.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National General Certificate and IOSH Managing Safety (or equivalent) required.
• Experience leading HSE in manufacturing/regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead site health and safety strategy and continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain health and safety policies, procedures and management systems.
• Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and best practice.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments and contractor management.
• Investigate accidents and incidents and implement corrective actions.

A leading engineering and manufacturing organisation supplying highly regulated global industries is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join its Gloucestershire operation.

Reporting directly to the Site Director, the successful Health and Safety Manager will take ownership of health, safety and compliance activities across the site, working closely with operational, engineering and facilities teams to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Main Duties: Health and Safety Manager

• Leading the site's health and safety strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining health and safety policies, procedures and management systems.
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable HSE legislation and best practice.
• Conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments and contractor management activities.
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Delivering HSE training and promoting employee engagement in safety initiatives.
• Monitoring and reporting HSE performance metrics and KPIs.
• Supporting the safe introduction of new equipment, products and processes.
• Managing and supporting occupational health activities.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for all day-to-day health and safety matters.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Health and Safety Manager

• A holder of NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent qualifications.
• Experience in a Health & Safety leadership role within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, aviation or similarly regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and management systems.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, audits and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to coach, influence and engage employees at all levels.
