- Health & Safety Manager (Full–time, Permanent)
- Location: Cambridgeshire / Northamptonshire / Surrounding Areas
- Home–based with regional site travel
- Established UK construction contractor
Search is delighted to be representing an established construction contractor looking to appoint a Health & Safety Manager to support a portfolio of building projects across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction Health & Safety professional who enjoys working autonomously, engaging with site teams and having a genuine influence on health and safety standards across multiple projects.
The role offers a great balance of flexibility, variety and long–term career development within a well–established business.
Why this could be the ideal role for you
- You're an experienced Health & Safety professional with a strong background in building construction, ideally having worked for a main contractor.
- You enjoy the variety of working across multiple construction sites, rather than being permanently based on a single project.
- You're comfortable working independently, managing your own diary and building relationships with operational teams.
- You prefer a practical, hands–on approach to Health & Safety, working collaboratively with site teams to improve standards.
- You're looking for a business where you can develop your career and potentially progress into a more senior leadership position over time.
What you will be doing
- Providing Health & Safety support and guidance across a portfolio of construction projects within the region.
- Undertaking regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers and subcontractors to promote safe working practices.
- Supporting the development, implementation and review of risk assessments, method statements and other safety documentation.
- Assisting with incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Supporting project teams during pre–construction planning and throughout the delivery of projects.
- Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and practical guidance to site teams.
- Supporting the ongoing improvement of Health & Safety management systems, procedures and standards.
What you will need
- Previous Health & Safety experience within the construction industry, ideally within a building–focused main contractor environment.
- Experience working across multiple construction projects, with an understanding of the risks associated with different trades and construction activities.
- A NEBOSH qualification or relevant NVQ in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with site teams, subcontractors and management.
- A proactive, practical approach to Health & Safety.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
What's in it for you
- Salary of GBP50,000 to GBP62,500 depending on experience, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
- Company car or car allowance.
- Comprehensive benefits package.
- Predominantly home–based working, with flexibility to manage your own diary.
- A varied portfolio of construction projects.
- Funded training and professional development.
- Long–term career progression opportunities.
