Opportunity Overview

Our client, an innovative manufacturer based in Haslingden, is seeking an experienced NEBOSH-qualified Health and Safety Manager. This role offers autonomy, a varied workload, and a supportive working environment. The position reports to the Operations Manager and involves a flexible schedule, typically 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

Role Purpose

To identify hazards and promote safe practices, reducing workplace injuries and illnesses. To advocate for employee health and safety, provide guidance and training, foster a safety culture, ensure legal compliance, and update health and safety policies accordingly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop operational procedures considering hazards.
  • Perform regular site inspections to ensure policy adherence.
  • Audit practices for safety compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and brief management on findings.
  • Engage staff in safety culture initiatives.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Develop and review health and safety policies and safe systems of work.
  • Implement behavioral observation procedures.
Communication & Engagement
  • Prepare reports for management.
  • Respond effectively to information requests.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and participate in team meetings.
  • Instruct staff on PPE use and conduct routine equipment tests.
  • Compile safety statistics and perform epidemiological analysis.
  • Develop and communicate H&S KPIs and hold monthly safety meetings.
Teamwork & Collaboration
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Meet deadlines and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Motivate and influence staff positively.
  • Participate in discussions to generate ideas and improvements.
Administrative Duties
  • Analyze accident data and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
