Purpose:

Our Health and Safety Lead plays an instrumental role in pushing our safety culture and elevating the improvement of our practices. Sitting as part of the Site Leadership Team, you will hold a crucial role which provides vison and strategy for the HSE function ensuring the site complies with best practice and legislation and fosters a continuous improvement culture. The HS Lead will enable our people leaders to have a safety and resolution focussed outlook, equipping them with the tools, frameworks and training to be safe at work.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the site HSE plan with a focus on culture
  • Utilising regional contacts, lead on people development with a clear focus on industry standards
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business at all levels
  • Be accountable for developing, implementing and maintaining critical plans, policies and procedures
  • Upkeep of HSE records
  • Complete details risk assessments and maintain the risk assessment library accordingly
  • Support the HR Department with information in relation to occupational health referrals
  • Manage the incident, accident and near miss reporting system and following up actions in a timely manner either directly or through delegation
  • Skills and qualifications:

  • NEBOSH is essential for this role
  • Previous environmental experience is desirable
  • Food industry experience is desirable
  • Experience of LEAN manufacturing is desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 and 9001 is strongly desirable
  • Ability to influence decision makers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Resolution focussed outlook to problem solving
  • Able to teach and coach in an understanding manner
  • Highly organised approach to working
