Job summary

Newbury College is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to help foster a safe and compliant environment for students, staff and visitors. You will work within the Operations team, giving practical guidance and coordinating risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations.

The role involves promoting a positive safety culture, managing multiple priorities and delivering health and safety training across departments to ensure statutory compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Passionate about health and safety and promoting a positive safety culture.
• Organised and detail-oriented with strong administration.
• Confident in giving advice to staff at all levels.
• Effective communicator with ability to build relationships.
• Proactive, with ability to manage priorities and deadlines.
• Experience in a health and safety role.
• NEBOSH Certificate and IOSH membership.

Responsibilities

• Investigate accidents and maintain first aid and fire safety arrangements.

We are excited to offer this opportunity for a proactive, knowledgeable and organised Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team. Based within our Operations team, you will play a key role in coordinating health and safety across the College, supporting staff, monitoring compliance, and helping to ensure a safe environment for students, staff and visitors. About the role: As our Health & Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the College. Working closely with the Operations Manager and colleagues across all departments, you will provide practical advice and guidance on health and safety matters, monitor compliance with legislation and College policies, and help ensure a safe environment for staff, students and visitors. You will coordinate a wide range of health and safety activities, including risk assessments, inspections, audits, accident investigations, first aid and fire safety arrangements, training, and statutory compliance checks. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who is passionate about health and safety and enjoys building positive working relationships while making a real difference across the College.

Desirable criteria

• Grad IOSH or CMIOSH membership.
• Experience working in Further Education or a training environment.
• Experience delivering health and safety training.
