Health and Safety Assistant

£30k per annum

Monday – Friday / General Office Hours

Deeside

Our manufacturing client based in the Deeside area are currently looking to recruit a Health and Safety Assistant on a permanent basis. We are looking for a dedicated Health, Safety and Environment Assistant to join our client’s close-knit team who will be instrumental in maintaining their safe working environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and ensuring the site operates safely.This successful candidate will very much be the eyes and ears of the department, promoting a culture of health and safety whilst supporting the safe and compliant operation of the business. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands on experience in the field whilst contributing to the growth and development of safety practices.

Performance Objectives

·Assisting with internal and external HS&E audits ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.

·Represent the HS&E team at daily panel meetings, providing updates and insights to health , safety and environmental matters.

·Work with the HS&E Manager to deliver key objectives and strategies for the department.

·Support with emergency evacuation drills ensuring safety protocols are followed.

·Prepare presentations and documentation to support site activity.

·Facilitate HS&E risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced, whilst working alongside and guiding managers to ensure a safe workplace, recommending improvements.

·Perform regular site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are being effectively adhered to.

·Promote a positive culture and continual drive of health safety & environmental best practices in the workplace.

·Assist with accident and incident investigations, providing clear reports and recommendations for corrective action.

·Ensure working practices are safe and comply with HS&E legislation.

·General administration duties, including monitoring of paperwork for the HS&E management system.

·Assisting with HS&E training programmes across all departments, fostering a well-informed workforce.

·Play a key role in developing and updating procedures for the ISO14001 Environmental management system, supporting audits as and when required.

Person Specification

·Previous experience with HS&E, Auditing or Compliance in a fast paced business environment would be preferred.

·Understanding of HS&E regulations, risk management and safety compliance

·Strong communication and organisation skills, with attention to detail, whilst being able to effectively work with a range of colleagues at all levels.

·Able to use initiative and prioritise tasks effectively.

·Ability to build credible working relationships and develop strong partnerships

·Able to handle sensitive information with the highest level of discretion and confidentiality.

·Ability to work independently and part of a collaborate team.

·Competent MS office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

·NEBOSH or IOSH certification (or equivalent) would be desirable but not essential.

·Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a growing team within a growing business.
