Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full regulatory compliance for both pet and human food legislation
- Own HACCP, VACCP, TACCP, and allergen management systems
- Maintain and audit SOPs, risk assessments, and cleaning documentation
- Drive improvements in food safety, hygiene, and traceability
- Lead site Health & Safety system management and improvements
- Act as primary contact for FSA, Defra, APHA, EHO, and external audits
- Champion a proactive food safety and safety-first culture across teams
- Deliver training and mentoring for team leads and operatives
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in food manufacturing compliance (human and/or pet food)
- Understanding of human food standards (BRCGS, HACCP, Food Hygiene Regs)
- NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Strong analytical, documentation, and training skills
- Confidence liaising with auditors and regulatory authorities
- Collaborative, hands-on approach — equally at home in audits or on the line
Nice to have/not essential:
- Working knowledge of UK and EU pet food regulations (FSA/Defra/EC No 183/2005)
