Job description

Are you a competent and experienced health and safety professional who is passionate about ensuring a safe working environment for NHS staff, patients, and visitors?

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at University Hospitals of North Midlands. In this role, you will play a vital part in promoting a culture of safety and compliance across our healthcare settings.

Working in Health and Safety, the post holder will be part of a team working to ensure regulatory compliance in all aspects of Health and Safety Legislation.

The role will include:

  1. Audits of local compliance in all areas of the Hospital.
  2. Support and advice in all aspects of health and safety topics.
  3. Delivering training in all aspects of risk assessment.
  4. Supporting with action planning and advice on suitable mitigation measures to reduce identified risks.

We are looking for someone who holds a NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent, with a background in health and safety holding a substantive role within the field for approximately 5 years. The post holder will be able to demonstrate clear application of their knowledge and skills in practice.

Experience working within the NHS setting is desirable but not essential.

We seek someone who is a team player and wants to be part of a driven and enthusiastic team to facilitate change, yet able to work under their own initiative and prioritize work to meet demands.

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country. Based across two sites, Royal Stoke in Stoke-on-Trent and County Hospital in Stafford, we serve around three million people and are highly regarded for our facilities, teaching, and research. We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales.

All our employees make valuable contributions regardless of role. We offer a wide range of development packages to help everyone fulfill their potential.

UHNM fosters a culture of inclusion, providing equal opportunities for career development that are fair and transparent. We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer where all staff feel valued and respected. We ask our employees to commit to our values, co-created by staff, patients, and carers, which unite us as a Trust.

At University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, we know that investing in and supporting our staff directly impacts the quality of care we provide. Our employees are as important as our patients and the community we serve.
